As we all know haiti has gone through some rough times and still does. The country tries to pull it self out of the hole it is in by providing as much as it can for its future leaders. The fact is that many of these kids ( the future leaders) never make it past the 6th grade in school. So what needs to be changed to keep these kids in school? what needs to be taight to help them progress on to better lives?

The world is growing all around, focusing on literary and mathmatical skills. but what is that worth to a country who more than ever needs medical help.  I think that the schools should start kids early science of disease and the spoken language.

 What are your thoughts?

I agree with waht your trying to say but a problem there , that would also arise anywhere else if this were the case is funding.

There is hardly any funding for schools which in turn leads to a poorer education.  Im from the US and have studied many school systems around the world.  The fact of the matter is you can't have a program in science if you cannot provide the right materials.

In terms of a lesson plan ( if there was funding) i think that mathmatics and language should be the main priority due to the growing demand for it around the world.

You both have a valid point.  I would add that, in order to prepare the next generation for the challenges ahead, Haitian authorities must get their acts together and give this country a chance to move forward.  First of all, I think that there must be a new wave of leadership in Haiti; that is, the old folks need to step aside and pave the way for this generation, the youths, to take matter of this country at hand.  THe leadership figures are the same since the fall of the Duvaliers, it is about time to change direction in leadership.  Unless there is a new vision, it will be hard for Haiti to move forward positively.

i would hope to see the authorites enforcing that kids go to school. in america kids have to go to school until the age of 16 were they can choose to drop out. i think that if they were able to make the kids stay in school then by the time they reach our age they would be a lot better off.

Question are we talking about Schools for Children or Adults or In General? I think the whole Education system needs Major Fundings to get things properly organized. The majority of schools/colleges are in need of more:  Computers, Supplies/Textbooks, Scholarships and Grants, Activities such as: AfterSchool programs, Student Body Councils, and etc... On top of all these necessities, we're truly in need of Good Leading Teachers/Professors and what I mean by this is: Having Knowledge, Skills, Determination, and Enough Patiences to deal with all Alumni/Student.
